Peter Mackay on Palestine, Haiti, Afghanistan
audio: MP3 at 4.4 mebibytes
As a collection of about 20-25 Haligonians protested Conservative Foreign Affairs Minister's presence at a fundraiser luncheon held at the World Trade and Convention Centre on Friday, two independent journalists with CKDU radio in Halifax were able to fire off a few questions to Mr. Mackay (after kindly being told to "fuck off" by Mackay's security officers).
Most significantly, Mackay admitted he agrees with calls for the release of jailed ex-Haitian Prime Minister Yvon Neptune. Neptune has been jailed for over two years, after a Canadian-funded NGO, known as NCHR Haiti, circulated unproven and ultimately false accusations that he had been involved in a so-called "massacre" in La Scierie.
Oddly, from this interview, Mackay seems to refer to the Palestinian Authority (not just Hamas) as a "terrorist organization"
