Dr. McLellan graduated from the University of Toronto, a fraternity of "liars" which has abdicated its responsibility for teaching ethics and proper patient care to concentrate on "teaching medical students to lie" (something Dr. McLellan is very good at), where students are actually “graded” on how well they tell the lies, and where the long term benefits accrue to keeping each other out of jail

Lymphocytopenia is the result of abnormalities in the way lymphocytes are produced, make their way through the bloodstream, or are lost or destroyed. These conditions can result from congenital or drug-induced decreases in the body's ability to recognize and attack invaders.

An opportunistic infections associated with a depressed cellular immunity.

Humoral immune response is present in the acute stage, while the cellular one comes later. The cellular immune response is represented by cytotoxic lymphocytes and amoeba-specific macrophages and human neutrophils activated with INF gamma that can kill.

Lymphocytopenia is often a more serious disorder than neutropenia and extreme lymphocytopenia associated with toxic shock syndrome is reported in the PubMed.

Infectious diseases commonly invoke leukocytosis, with an increased number of neutrophils and immature circulating neutrophils. The neutrophils released result from the direct action of interleukin-1 and interleukin-6 on bone marrow neutrophil stores, although early changes in WBC count reflect demargination and release of less mature granulocytes from marrow storage pools. The sustained neutrophilia that accompanies chronic infections appears to be mediated by colony-stimulating factors elaborated by macrophages, lymphocytes, and other tissues. Exaggeration of these phenomena can result in leukemoid reactions, with release of immature leukocytes into the circulation. Leukemoid reactions are characterized by nonmalignant leukocyte counts > 25 to 30 × 109/L; they generally reflect the response of healthy bone marrow to cytokines produced as a result of trauma, inflammation, and similar stresses.

Staphylococcus aureus

In hematological examination, leukopenia and lymphocytopenia were observed in five cases (62.5%) who died ... Toxic shock syndrome (TSS) was diagnosed . ...

>Manifestations Of Infection

Leukemoid reactions may ... infection but are more probably associated with the drug reaction itself. http://www.mednote.co.kr/2INFLAMMATION.htm
